- Mr. Lapping has over 20 years of management, sales, marketing and technology related services delivery in the U.S. education market.
- Founded JDL Horizons and acquired two operating divisions, Professional Staff Development and Video Distribution from JDL Technologies in August 2007.
- Mr. Lapping was selected by eSchool News as one of the 30 most influential leaders on the use of technology in the nation's schools in 2001 with Bill Gates & Michael Dell.
- Merged JDL Technologies with Communications Systems, Inc. (AMEX: JCS) in 1998.
- Founded JDL Technologies in 1989 as a K-12 education networking company and led the company for the delivery of over 5,000 IP networks in K-20 institutions.
- National Education Sales Manager for Control Data, Plato Education Services
- Director of Marketing, Education for Corvus Systems, providing network solutions to the K–12 and Universities. Implemented a National Education program that delivered 11,000 networks and servers.
- Mr. Lapping was the Steering Committee Chairman for NetDay Minnesota. Later to be known as the Erate program administrated by USAC.
- Mr. Lapping is a founding member and serves as Director on the Board of the Erate Service Providers Association (ESPA).
