eSchool News (eSN), America’s leading print newspaper covering education-technology news and information, is once again at the forefront of ed-tech with the bold new look, feel, and functionality of eSchool News.TV, the video news and information resource for educators and education advocates..
Its new video platform--with a jumbo viewing window--makes it easier than ever for school and university leaders to tap into the information offered through the exclusive newsmaker interviews, hard-hitting news reports, and ed-tech updates in programming such as the popular newscast eSN TechWatch, the eSN Video Marketplace, and eSN Newsmaker interviews.
Tech-savvy educators have been on the video bandwagon long before the general American public, so you can bet they expect the highest quality and functionality that online video can offer.
"Internet use continues to pervade educators' lives," notes Tom Lapping, president of JDL Horizons, the company that created the new platform, "and technological advancement continues to improve the way news is gathered, edited, and distributed. These elements now converge to form the true essence of an education news-on-demand channel. This new platform provides an opportunity for educators and education advocates to stay informed, plan more effectively, and make better decisions to the benefit of their students, districts, schools, and colleges."
With eSchool News' latest platform upgrade, the site's video player is substantially larger than the original one, and it offers numerous visual improvements. For instance, the searching capability has been dramatically enhanced. Viewers can search for any topic of interest or scroll through a list of categories created by eSN. Better still, this new search function targets video exclusively rather than searching all file types across the entire site.
In addition, educators can quickly determine if they want to watch a specific clip before launching the full video. That's because when educators scroll over any video link, they will see a short text summary of its content, view a star rating based on how other educators ranked that particular clip, see how many times the clip has been viewed, learn when the clip was uploaded, and see the clip’s running time. Educators are also able to view a list of additional videos even as their selected clip is playing.
